Downtown West, Houston Street to 14th Street, Seventh Avenue to the Hudson River
Bordered by the East Village, SoHo and Chelsea, the West Village has long been known as "Little Bohemia." Although some high rises have been built, there is still no better place to find charming townhouse apartments on quiet, tree lined streets. The West Village is the center of the bohemian lifestyle on the West Side, with classic artist's lofts (Westbeth Artists Community). Facing the Hudson River at Perry Street are new residential towers designed by American architect Richard Meier. At the top of this neighborhood is the Meatpacking District, filled with trendy boutiques, restaurants, and nightclubs.
